FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: How to prepare for your wax appointment ?

A: Step 1: GROW YOUR HAIR

Two weeks before your first wax, make sure to let your hair grow out ! No trimming or shaving allowed ! This way the wax will be able to grip your hair.Your hair should be atleast ¼ inch long.

Step 2: EXFOLIATE

Prepare your hair and skin for waxing by exfoliating the night before your wax. Using an exfoliating mitt, washcloth, or a gentle body polish (no salt or sugar scrubs).

Step 3: SHOWER AND GO

The day of your wax, take a shower to soften the hair and skin. This will help me pull the hair up more easily.

Q: Will waxing hurt ?

A: If you are concerned about the pain, understand that waxing is quick but there is some discomfort. Feel free to take Tylenol 45 minutes before your wax to help.

Q: Are there any medications I should stop before scheduling my wax ?

A: Yes, some medications are contraindicated for waxing, like topical acne medications (Tretinoin,Adapalene, and other Retinoids) which require you to stop using them for at least a week before and after waxing. You should not wax six months after using Accutane or Chemotherapy.

Q: How can I reduce my skin’s redness and irritation after waxing ?

A: Don’t scratch ! Scratching causes the already stressed skin to damage and scar. Use Aloe Vera Gel to reduce the redness.

Q: Can I wax on my period ?

A: First off, there is no need to be embarrassed. I’am also a menstruating person and therefore am not bothered by blood, tampons, or any other normal bodily functions. I have also been waxed while on my cycle as well so I know how it feels!

Q:Will waxing on my period hurt ?

A:Some clients do experience more sensitivity to heat and pain the few days before their cycle or at the very beginning of it. Most don’t notice a difference at all though! If you are worried about the sensitivity, we recommend taking an ibuprofen or Tylenol 30-45 minutes before your appointment.

Q: Should I wear a pad when I come for my waxing while on my period ?

A: No, wear a tampon, disc, or cup during your appointment. Again, this is not because I'm grossed out by your period. It’s simply because I need your skin to be clean and dry in order for the wax to adhere effectively. If you don’t normally wear these period products, you will want to schedule outside your period. I understand not everyone’s cycle is predictable but it is not a valid reason for me to waive the cancellation policy. Using an app like @flo to track your cycle or scheduling after you’ve started versus pre-booking may be a better option.

Q: Should I cut or tuck in my tampon string before my wax ?

A: No, if you are wearing a tampon, please don’t tuck it in as it usually doesn’t work. Just let me know you are wearing one and I will navigate around it during the wax. I also carry plenty of body wipes if you want to freshen up before getting on the table.

Q: How should I care for myself after my wax ?

A: For 48 hours after your wax, avoid anything that causes friction, sweating, or bacteria. Avoid sun exposure and do not apply any heavy creams or oils.

Q: Do you document my results ?

Q: How long does it take to see results after a ChemicalPeel ?

A: Seven to fourteen days - you'll see the formation of healthy, new skin, but you may notice some redness or skin that is darker or lighter than usual for up to a month.

A: Don't over-exfoliate. Peels are maximum-strength exfoliants, so you don't need to use a separate exfoliant (like a scrub, brush or exfoliating cleanser) within 3-4 days of your peel. Over-exfoliating can lead to more redness or sensitivity, so wait until your skin feels up to it.
